Stress – Sarah Fischer

Stress is a regular part of most people’s daily fast paced routine.

It isn’t always a negative force but when things get going, it can lead to a snowball effect of symptoms, other than just feeling overwhelmed. Your body has a natural reaction when stress emerges; hormone levels may increase (cortisol, adrenaline), your breathing pattern changes, blood pressure may increase, etc. Long-term stress may begin to affect you physically, cognitively and emotionally. You may become overwhelmed or anxious easily, shortness of breath, changes in appetite, chronic headaches, clenching of your jaw, overall feeling of unhappiness, digestive complications and the list goes on and on and on.

Everyone handles stress differently but everyone should find something that works for them. We have to take care of ourselves and take time to do so. Some people, including myself, find exercise as a great stress reliever, or talking with someone or sometimes lone time with meditation is what’s needed to refocus thoughts and breathing. You know what else helps with stress and related symptoms?

That’s right: MASSAGE THERAPY!

Massage is a great part in stress management. It affects your muscular and nervous system, releases tension, focuses on your breathing and lets everything relax and get back to normal. Massage also helps with side effects such as: headaches, TMJ dysfunction, constipation, anxiety, insomnia and again the list go on. Everyone and every situation are different. Depending on the concern and severity of stress, it may be recommended to see your physician for assistance.

We are all guilty of letting life get ahead of us but take charge now! Take time for yourself, and refocus on what’s important…. your health! You can call or book online with one of the therapists at Adica Massage Clinic. We would be more than happy to help you relax and give you that time you need for yourself. An added bonus is we have heated blankets which are one of my favorite things, especially with that fall chill that has arrived! We offer different types of massages like therapeutic massage, hot stone massage and even couple’s massage.
