A lot of people have gone through intense surgeries or have been the victim of a traumatic injury, such as burns or accidents. Many of these situations result in scarring and most of the times, scars leave people with chronic problems.

Many scars leave the skin puckered in areas which may limit fascia movement or range of motion. Extreme scarring can affect lymph drainage, which leaves areas looking swollen, puffy and boggy feeling. If the scar or burn is a 3rd or 4th degree, there is extreme nerve damage and lack of sensation. Depending on the severity of the scaring, posture and

Most people feel that this is something they just have to accept. However, receiving a Massage Therapy for scar management can greatly improve the look, feel and movement of the affected area. Massage can help lighten the appearance of scars if they still have a pink-reddish appearance. If the scar is puckering and creasing, a therapist can use techniques specifically designed to help loosen the scar tissue and fascia that may be restricted and causing the limitations. If the scar is large enough, it may be impede lymphatic drainage and leaving the person with swelling proximal to the scar. Treatment to the restriction as well as lymphatic drainage massage can reduce; if not completely diminish the swelling.

I have recently taken extra training in trauma scaring and am looking to help those who are dealing with residual scar problems. Including and not limited to:

-Trauma scars (accidents, burns, etc)

-Reconstructive surgery scars (breast cancer, breast reduction/augmentation, etc)
