Adductor Muscles – Nicole Gillett
Your adductor muscles are found on your inner thigh. Your adductors are made up of 6 small muscles: Adductor magnus (this muscle has a hamstring part and adductor part), gracilis, adductor longus, adductor brevis, obturator externus, pectineus, and adductor minimus (also considered to be part of adductor magnus.
When thinking of their action, the adductor adds it to the body, bringing it closer to neutral or centre of the body. Adductor longs adducts the thigh. Adductor brevis adducts the thigh and also does a little flexion of the leg. Adductor magnus adducts the thigh. The adductor part of this muscle flexes the thigh and the hamstring part helps extend the thigh. Gracilis adducts the thigh, flexes the leg and helps rotate it inward. Obturator externus rotates the thigh outward and steadies the hip joint. Pectineus muscle is a very small muscle that helps ad in flexion in the leg and helps in adduction.
