What is a Cupping Massage?

Cupping is another form of massage that we are pleased to say we offer at our clinic.

A Cupping Massage involves applying small cups to the skin. The suction action on the skin will lift the skin up from the veins, muscles and tendons in the body to allow for better blood flow. This releases deep tension, scar tissue adhesions, and rids the body of the toxins that build up in lymph nodes and tissues.

Cupping can be very helpful for people with blood disorders such as anemia and hemophilia. It is also used as a form of treatment for Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. It is been reported to help with anyone diagnosed with high blood pressure, anxiety and depression, and may even help to reduce pain and inflammation. This method has been found to be very useful with lung infections and asthma as it helps clear out toxins and congestion in your lungs. Cupping is now being used by many athletes who find that it helps to protect different areas in the body.

With cupping therapy you may develop small bruises around the cupping area, this is because it is a suction action. This action increases blood flow to the skin and also to the area that is being worked on. It is similar to if you took a vacuum and suctioned your skin for 5-10 minutes. Cupping massage is one of the best forms of deep tissue massages available.

We are pleased to announce that 2 of our Massage Therapists are certified to perform Cupping Massages. They both are certified and have extensively studied this form of massage to better help their clients.
