Having insurance coverage is a wonderful and helpful benefit to any individual. It enables people with genuine health problems, conditions, and/or general aches and pains to obtain Massage sessions, and have a large percentage of the cost of that treatment covered. Which is great especially if it is included in your work benefits!
Today I am going to explain a little but about Massage and Insurance for those not quite sure about how it works.
If your health insurance plan covers Massage, then you have on average anywhere from $300 -$1000+ per year to use (all depending on the individual plan). And 95% of plans cover 70%-100% of the cost of the session.
For example, if you got a one hour massage and had 80% coverage. At $84 a massage the individual only pays $16.80 for the treatment.
Some plans may require a doctor’s prescription but many don’t. If this is the case, just let your Dr. know that you are looking for a Massage prescription (for whatever your aches or pains are).
Direct Billing – At Adica, We direct bill through most in province providers: Chambers of Commerce; Cowan: Dejardins; Great-West Life; Industrial Alliance; Johnson; Manulife; Maximum Benefit or Johnson Group; Standard Life; Sun Life (unless through government then you have to pay upfront), Blue Cross. In the case you are from out of province or your provider isnt listen, we then just have you pay us upfront and we give you a receipt which you submit to your insurance company, and they will reimburse you the 70-100% of the treatment.
To know your plan benefits you can call your insurance company and ask these simple questions:
1- Do I have Massage coverage
2- How much do I get per year
3- what percentage is covered
3- What dates do my benefits run (ex. Jan-Jan or April- April)
4- Do I require a Dr. prescription
If you prefer you can always give us a call, and we can contact your insurance company for you and ask all the knitty gritty questions for you
